Weddings

A Christian wedding ceremony is a service of worship offered to God. The essence of marriage is a covenanted commitment that has its foundation in the faithfulness of God’s love. The wedding ceremony is the wonderful occasion on which two people unite as full and equal partners in the mutual exchange of covenant promises.

If a couple wishes to be married at and/or by a pastor of Casas Adobes Congregational UCC, they must meet with one of our pastors. A schedule for additional pre-marital conversations with the pastor and details concerning the availability of the church facility can be set at this first meeting.   Then, should the schedule and details be mutually agreeable to the couple and the pastor, and on receipt of a non-refundable deposit, the ceremony will be booked into our calendar.

While civil marriage in Arizona is limited by state definition, as an Open & Affirming congregation of the United Church of Christ we do not find ourselves likewise limited in our participation in administering the blessings and the covenant commitments of marriage. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you desire to explore a covenant service, a service of blessing, a Holy Union celebration, or a marriage renewal ceremony. Our concern is to help in your desire to make your festive day something that will illuminate our loving God’s participation in your household for a lifetime. Casas Adobes Congregational UCC does not discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation. Christian same-sex couples who wish to have their life-long commitment recognized should be confident that you will be respected and welcomed to explore your ceremony with us.

We also want to help make your wedding service one that best fulfills your sense of your celebration under the broad umbrella of the ceremony being mindful of its purpose as a service for the worship of God. Music of joy, praise and thanksgiving may be included in the service after consultation with the pastor. Readings and rituals do not need to be exclusively from the Christian scriptures or tradition.  We are delighted that you have found your life partner and wish to publicly declare your commitment to each other.

We hope your wedding at Casas Adobes Congregational UCC will be a joyous, meaningful and life affirming celebration of your love. Please contact us if we can help you make your service of commitment be all that you desire in covenant with each other and our God.
