Stephen Ministry

Jesus commands us to "love one another as he first loved us." The Stephen Ministry is one in which one person reaches out to another in times of loneliness, depression, an illness or hospitalization; working through grief or a crisis; being newcomers to Tucson, to name just a few instances when this Ministry is called. Stephen Ministers receive intensive training in helping and listening skills. Stephen Ministers respect confidentiality.

Why the name Stephen?

Why Stephen Ministry? We have many needs for care in our congregation and community: people experience divorce, grief, a terminal illness, loss of a job, retirement, hospitalization, loneliness and many other stresses or challenges. Often people with needs suffer in silence or do not request or receive the level of care they really need. In congregations like ours of about 500 members, you can quickly see why it becomes difficult to meet every single need of every single person. Stephen Ministry expands the care CACC can offer by equipping and organizing members to provide a "care partnership." This gives us a larger pool of people with gifts, skills and calling to bring love and care to those who most need it.

If you would like to request the services of a CACC Stephen Minister, please contact Vera Finney 297-2485, Hugh Smith 742-2446 or Church Office 297-1181.
